David Kamakana Sebala

To all our family and friends. The past 2 months has been a roller coaster of emotions. As many of you know Laura and I was blessed with a son on January 10th, 2002. David Kamakana Sebala was born at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children at 8:36pm. His arrival, though a blessing, was pushed foward 2 1/2 months early on God's time table. He was born premature at 26 weeks, weighing in at only 1 pound and 7 ounces. I can speak on Laura's behalf when I say we can't begin to explain the feelings we experienced on the night of his birth. Scared, excited, worried, awesome, unsure, happy, overwhelmed, overjoyed and blessed would be just a few emotions we felt that night. Our lives and the way we look at life changed forever. At present we are still beginning to understand our hearts and its feelings. One thing we're definitely sure of is that we know "God is in control!" As each setback comes, our spirits multiply and grow stronger from it. "FAITH" and "HOPE" have become our guide throughout this challenging time. Imagine not being able to hold your newborn child for the first month of his or her life. That's what Laura and I have experienced. After 1 month of prayers we finally were allowed to embrace David for the first time. Words can't begin to express the emotions we felt on that day. It's been nearly 3 months since Kamakana "The Gift" has been given to us and finally he has come home. David was released from the NICU of Kapiolani Hospital on April 3rd. Besides hearing his first cry at birth,it was the most joyful feeling I have ever felt in my entire life. As Laura and I walked out of the room we both said "We will return, but only to visit!" David is currently receiving help from an oxygen tank. The doctors project him to be on it for at least another month. Please continue to pray for his full recovery and strength. He's closing in on 6 pounds so that's awesome. Laura and I would sincerely like to thank all those who have been praying for David. We especially are very thankful for all his guardian angels at Kapiolani hospital who cared for him since birth. God bless your loving hearts! To our families near and far, we love you for loving us uncoditionally. When we needed comfort you never turned your backs on us. You never passed judgemennt on us in any way. For that we owe our lives to you. We also would like to especially express our love to those who took precious time out of their busy schedules to visit our son. We know that your presence at David's side, though for a short while, has made not only David's spirit strong, but our hearts full.

Thank you so very much from the bottom of of hearts to all of you whom we call brothers and sisters in Christ! David Kamakana Sebala "our son," is a special child. We love him with all our hearts and we await anxiously, yet patient for the time when we can freely bring him out with us.
THANK YOU LORD FOR "THE GIFT!"
